These aspects are also of key importance for health insurers and medical personnel, as modern wound management reduces treatment times or allows patients to be moved from stationary to ambulant treatment, thus reducing nursing efforts and costs.

High-grade materials are increasingly used to meet these requirements. They have been particularly developed for these applications and include films, non-wovens, foams and adhesives. Manufactured by Epurex Films, Platilon films made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) fulfill the different wound care requirements very well. Newly developed products offer water vapour permeability graded according to the type, high flexibility and a mat surface to keep to a minimum the friction between the plaster and textile clothes.

The healing process is shortened due to a controlled climate in the wound area. In these applications, the plaster system allows excess moisture to escape, to create an optimized wound climate and prevent additional stress to the skin around the wound underneath the plaster. The watertight film provides protection against external liquids and dirt.
