3M Introduces Scotch-Weld Low Odor Acrylic Adhesives for Transportation and more

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- 3M introduces 3M Scotch-Weld Low Odor Acrylic Adhesives DP8805NS and DP8810NS. These next-generation Structural Acrylic Adhesives provide dramatic improvements over conventional high-odor acrylics, with significant benefits in productivity, performance, cost savings, and health and safety concerns.

Users of conventional acrylic adhesives know that these products typically raise inconvenient issues with odor, set times, impact resistance and storage requirements. But the new 3M Scotch-Weld Low Odor Acrylic Adhesives are designed to solve these challenges while also enhancing performance and productivity.

3M Scotch-Weld Low Odor Acrylic Adhesives offer an incredibly fast cure rate, reaching structural strength in about nine minutes-just half the time of ordinary acrylic adhesives. 3M Acrylic Adhesives also have higher impact resistance on plastics and metals. The new adhesives additionally provide excellent shear and peel performance, and improved adhesion to many plastics and metals, expanding the range of applications for which acrylic adhesives can be used.

The new adhesives are uniquely formulated compared to conventional acrylic adhesives, helping to reduce pungent odors and ease health and safety concerns. They are also non-flammable, making them even more facility friendly. With an extended 18-month shelf life and no refrigeration required, 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Low Odor Acrylic Adhesives provide more than double the shelf life of conventional acrylic adhesives, and can be stored at lower costs.

Like many 3M innovations, the development of 3M Scotch-Weld Low Odor Acrylic Adhesives was enabled by collaboration between divisions of 3M. In this case, 3Ms dental division had developed a fast-setting, low odor dental composite material that has brought long lasting smiles for many years. 3M product developers saw the potential for this technology and worked to adapt it to bring those same unique benefits to Structural Acrylic Adhesives.
